Rajasthani Ralli Patchwork Toran- Black
What is Ralli Patchwork?
Ralli or Rilli work generally comes under three categories of designs: i.e, patchwork, applique, and embroidery. Ralli Patchwork is done on a spread with small pieces of fabrics stitched on top of the spread to form decorative patterns.
History of Ralli Patchwork
Ralli work has originated from the remote areas of Sindh. Women in Sindh used patches of animals, flowers, and geometrical patterns to stitch quilts. The mothers narrated stories to their daughters while stitching the patches and that is the reason why even today it is said that each Ralli Quilt has its own story. Today Ralli Patchwork is found in regions Rajasthan bordering Sindh.
